My research interests are currently focused on the ecological and biogeochemical dynamics of aquatic systems and the effect of natural and anthropogenic forcings.

I joined the research team of Prof. Alfonso Corzo during my Master thesis (Net metabolism and nutrient flux in the pelagic community of the Golfo de Nicoya (Costa Rica), where I was responsible for the quantification of net metabolism and nutrients’ exchange of various fractions of the pelagic community in the Gulf of Nicoya (Costa Rica) with aim to contribute to a future benthic pelagic coupling model.

I have conducted both in situ measurements and laboratory incubation experiments measuring a wide range of variables (e.g. oxygen, inorganic nutrients, carbon-nitrogen content, pigments). I have employed both simple chemical laboratory analytical methods and more advanced microelectrode techniques.

Currently, thanks to a Margarita Salas fellowship, during the outgoing phase, I will be at the laboratory of Prof. Paul del Giorgio for two years working on the cytometric analysis of the phytoplankton of Canadian lakes, before being incorporated again at the MEB-Lab.
