REWRITE is a European project aiming to study the effect natural besed solutions such as rewilding in coastal soft sediment areas to mitigate the effect of climate change.

Soft-sediment intertidal areas span over 10,000 km2 of a 35,000 km tidal coastline. These habitats offer essential ecosystem services, holding immense potential in the fight against the biodiversity-climate crisis. Yet, they face fragmentation and threats, leading to a decline in ecosystem service provision. Our project introduces rewilding as a nature-based solution to restore these seascapes, fostering climate resilience, biodiversity, and societal benefits.
